Royal Troon This is a classic links course. It is located on the Ayrshire coast in Troon and is one of many famous courses and clubs in the area.

It is a long course measuring a little over 7000 yards at 7097. Greg Norman holds the course record with 64 and when you finish playing this course you will understand what a great achievement this was. Justin Leonard was the last winner of the British Open here.

Like all links courses there are undulating greens, pot bunkers and the wind to complicate matters. The signature hole on the course in the very short 8th hole. The Postage Stamp is a mere 126 yards in length. Even though it is the shortest hole in Championship golf it can induce a disaster. Missing the green is a bogey or worse.

The club was founded in 1878. The green fee includes lunch in the clubhouse and a second round on the Portland Course. When visiting the club, take time to enjoy the memorabilia on show.
