(11)Machrihanish

Machrihanish "Designed by the Almighty for playing golf" Old Tom Morris.

Like The Machrie on the Isle of Islay, Machrihanish is remote location for a great golf course. The course is located near Campbell town on the Mull of Kintyre. This is on the West Coast of Scotland approximately three hours from Glasgow by car. This is an extremely good golf course and well worth the journey - the greens are of an exceptionally high standard.

The first tee shot requires maximum concentration as you will be intimidated by the large Atlantic waves crashing against the beach to your left. Furthermore, the drive will have to be played over the corner of this aforementioned beach in order to find the fairway. Surely one of Scotland's best opening holes.

The ever present wind at Machrihanish makes this course a stiff challenge in amongst the sand dunes. There are few finer golf courses in Scotland. Worth more than one round!

To play this course means leaving civilisation behind you and savouring the attractions of Scotland's west coast. Peace and tranquillity combined with first class golf, what more could one ask for.
