(10)Machrie

Machrie Golf Course Out on the Isle of Islay amongst the greatest collection of famous whisky distilleries lies the most westerly championship golf course in Scotland. Opened in 1891 you can play golf here really away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. However, the peaceful nature of the island belies the true test of golf that can be found here. The greens are placed in hollows and dells or on top of sand hills. There are scenic views to be had all over this course. This is particularly so, on holes 2,7,8 and 9 where one overlooks a stretch of beach known as the Strand. Well worth the journey to this fairly remote destination - a unique experience.
